Objective

Empty your entire draw pile before your opponent by firing cards onto the two center piles in quick, relentless bursts. There are no turns in Speed — just pure instinct, fast hands, and the thrill of seeing a perfect card at the exact right second.

Material

Standard 52-card deck:

A♠ 2♠ 3♠ 4♠ 5♠ 6♠ 7♠ 8♠ 9♠ 10♠ J♠ Q♠ K♠

Setup

Players: 2

Each player starts with:

  • A draw pile of 15 face-down cards (first to clear it wins)
  • A hand of 5 cards you constantly refill
  • Two side stacks that feed your hand whenever it drops below five

At the center:

  • Flip two starting cards face-up to form the active piles

These are your targets, and both players strike at them the moment the game begins.

How to Play

Simultaneous Play (no turns!)

Both players play at the same time.

You may play cards from your hand onto either center pile if the card is:

  • One rank higher, or
  • One rank lower

Suits don’t matter.

Example: Center shows 7 → You can play 6 or 8.

Circular Ranking (wrap-around)

A connects to K:

K → A → 2 → 3 → … → Q → K

Refilling Your Hand

After playing a card:

  • Refill your hand back to 5 cards using your side stacks.
  • Play instantly again if possible.

When Both Players Get Stuck

If neither player can play:

  • Each player flips a card from their side stacks onto the center piles.
  • Continue immediately.

Winning

First player to empty their entire draw pile wins the round.
